The Faces of Janus is a term borrowed from ancient Roman mythology, where Janus was the two-faced god of doorways, beginnings and endings. The term is now commonly used to describe people who are deceptive, two-faced, and untrustworthy. These individuals are often charming and charismatic, presenting one face to one group of people while presenting a very different one to another group. The term can also be used to describe people who are conflicted or indecisive, unable to choose between two options or two paths. In popular culture, the term is used to describe characters who are deceitful or duplicitous, such as the Two-Face character in Batman comics.
